Dive Overlay Studio

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 26, 2026

The short version: your dive files never leave your computer. We store only what we need to run your account, and we never sell your data.

Who we are

Van Hook Media LLC ("we", "us") runs FreediveData.com and Dive Overlay Studio. We are based in Key Largo, Florida. Questions about privacy go to support@freedivedata.com.

Your dive files stay on your device

When you load a FIT, UDDF, or other dive file, it is read and processed inside your web browser. The file, its GPS locations, and your dive data are not uploaded to us. The same goes for any video you load to burn an overlay into.

What we collect

Payments

Payments are handled by our reseller Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for all orders. Paddle collects your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy. We never receive your card number.

How we use your information

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use advertising trackers.

Services we use

These providers process data for us under their own security and privacy commitments. Data may be stored in the United States.

Cookies and browser storage

We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in and to remember app settings, like your overlay layout. Paddle's checkout uses its own cookies when you open it. We don't use advertising cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep account and plan details while your account is open. Error reports are kept for up to 12 months. If you delete your account, we delete your account details, export records, and error reports linked to you within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax or legal reasons.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, export, or delete your personal information at any time by emailing support@freedivedata.com. Depending on where you live, such as the EU, the UK, or California, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.

Children

Dive Overlay Studio is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use encrypted connections, access controls, and trusted providers to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and let account holders know by email.
